I think I’ve been sick for approximately 30 days now. Why? Probably because I can’t stop and actually relax. Today I needed to remind myself how to take a sick day.
Take Care of Business
Log into webmail and let people know you’re sick, rearrange meetings, pick up OJ, tea, and kleenex. If you’re one of those people who’s mind always wanders, try writing down the things you need to do and let your mind rest.
Yeah ok, the cold-pressed-raw-organic-real juice that costs $8 per bottle tastes…not great…and it really won’t help you get better if you’ve got a sinus infection. Only good ol’ antibiotics will help. Basically you really need to know when you have to go to the doctor. No, we don’t want to abuse antibiotics or other meds, but when you need it, that is why it is there. Just admit defeat and go to the doctor.
The best thing you can do is drink water and keep hydrated. I also enjoy tea and this is my favourite tea combination that I’ve been drinking when I’m sick to help me feel better.
Green Tea (Genmaicha is delicious with this)
4-6 slices of Ginger Root
1 tsp of Maple Syrup
Alright, now the fun stuff. Grab the essentials: cold meds, cell phone, laptop, remotes, a blanket, some pillows and make yourself comfortable on the couch or in bed.
The Mindy Project, Season 4 is currently out. It’s prefect for binge watching. Pick something fun and light so if you fall asleep, its easy to catch up on what you missed. UPDATE: I finished The Mindy Project and I’ve now gotten on board with House of Cards…UPDATE: I’ve now finished Season 1. #productivesickday
If you’re like me and you can’t sit still, try to find something to do that you’ve wanted to do for a while, but have been too busy to sit down and do it. For instance, grab your camera and take the photos off and organize them into albums on your laptop. Write in your journal. Give yourself a manicure or pedicure. Make bracelets (see my Etsy shop on the right!). Do something nice for yourself and feel productive doing it!
